Scholarships
Urban Planning Alumni Scholarship ($2,000 applied towards tuition)
Competitively awarded to students in the spring semester. The selected students must be willing to be department ambassadors and attend functions to share information about the program and department. Apply through ECUAward.
Eligibility:
- Rising junior or senior, pursuing a BS degree in Community and Regional Planning
- The recipient must meet all program requirements
- Demonstrated community involvement
- Any other criteria determined appropriate by the planning scholarship committee
Application Materials:
- University transcript
- Upon request only, one letter of recommendation from a planning faculty (provide the name of one reference in your application)
- Description of involvement in extra-curricular and community activities
Hankins Scholarship (amount varies and is applied towards tuition)
Competitively awarded to one student in the spring semester. There will be an interview with the Planning Scholarship Committee for selected semi-finalists. The principal criteria for selecting recipients shall be scholarship and an exhibited dedication to the profession of urban and regional planning. Financial need shall be a secondary consideration. Apply through ECUAward.
Eligibility:
- Pursuing a BS degree in Community and Regional Planning
- Completed 60 semester hours of college coursework
- Minimum Planning GPA: 3.0
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.5
- Involved in extracurricular and community activities

John C. Ralph Scholarship (amount varies and is applied towards tuition)
Competitively awarded to one student in the spring semester. The principal criteria for selecting recipients shall be scholarship and an exhibited dedication to the profession of urban and regional planning. Financial need shall be a secondary consideration. Apply through ECUAward.

East Carolina Alumni Association Scholarships, $1,000-$2,500 (applied towards tuition)
Competitively awarded to an undergraduate student who is currently enrolled at East Carolina University as a full-time undergraduate. Scholarship applications are evaluated based on demonstrated leadership, service/volunteerism, and recommendation. Visit the ECU Alumni Scholarship Program for further details. The deadline for receipt of all materials through ECUAward is January 15.
Eligibility:
- Full-time ECU undergraduate, including freshman
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0

National and International Scholarships

Each year, awards are presented for outstanding student performance:
American Planning Association (APA) Outstanding Student
The award recognizes outstanding attainment in the study of planning by students graduating from a Planning Accreditation Board (PAB)-accredited planning program. View the award information and past awardees.
