2023 Planning Scholarship Recipients

 

S.M. Hankins Scholarship William D Lowery, III

William D. Lowery, III, received the S.M. Hankins Scholarship, a competitive award for a student with a good scholarship and an exhibited dedication to the profession of urban and regional planning. As a non-traditional undergraduate student, William is a full-time Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Greenville. He holds a leadership position for SPAN as the Secretary and is actively engaged in various capacities in community services, the speaker series, and program recruitment activities. William is admitted to the Planning Accelerated Degree program starting in Fall 2023 and will begin taking a graduate course as a 4+1 student.

 

Urban Planning Alumni Scholarship Isabella Sardina

The 2023 Urban Planning Alumni Scholarship was awarded to Isabella Sardina. This scholarship is competitively awarded to one student during an academic year for outstanding scholarship and dedication to the planning profession. Isabella is an ECU’s Global Fellow at the Office of Global Affairs and holds the Social Media Coordinator role for the SPAN. She received multiple scholarships, including ECU Thomas W. Rivers Study Abroad Scholarship, Bate Scholarship, The C. Ray Pruette Scholarship, Discovery Scholarship, and Geography Scholarship. Isabella attended the 2023 Summer Study Abroad in South Korea and will join the Planning Accelerated Degree program in Fall 2023.
