SPAN actions
Since Nov. 2020, Student Planners’ Action Network (SPAN) has been helping the Alice F. Keene District Park’s Making Pitt Fit Community Garden, Pitt County, NC. every semester. Starting with cleaning up a small abandoned garden (named “SPAN Garden”), students planted fruit trees and maintained flowerbeds near the park walkway.
Led by Joni Young-Torres, the Making Pitt Fit Community Garden is a wonderful asset in Pitt County. Community members grow vegetables, enjoy flowers, share and learn gardening skills, and build their sense of community.
Thanks, Joni and Alice, for offering the opportunity for us to be a part of this wonderful experience.
Students: Ian Jethro, Terry Worley, Mason Mattox, Haleigh Robinson, Love Ott, Shannon Clough, Ty Clark, Leila Coe, Christopher Normile, Tanner Everett, Kendall Daniels, Brady Golden
