Planning faculty part of a research team awarded NOAA grant

Dr. Anuradha Mukherji is part of a research team of ECU faculty that has been awarded NOAA Coastal and Ocean Climate Applications (NOAA-COCA) grant.
The research team proposes to co-produce compound event non-structural tools with emergency managers and planners in coastal counties of North Carolina, making up three regional government councils and roughly coinciding with the northeast and southeast economic zones. Coastal estuarine environments are susceptible to a combination of multiple water hazards that are concurrent or sequential, often storm-related, and contribute to societal, economic, and health risks. These have recently been defined as compound events. The team will work closely with the Eastern Carolina Council of Governments, theĀ Mid-East Commission, and the Albemarle Commission.
