2017 Urban & Regional Planning Scholarship and Award Recipients Announced
Three students were announced as recipients of 2017 Urban & Regional Planning Scholarships and Awards.
Nicholas A. Musarra, a Senior student, received the 2017 Urban Planning Alumni Scholarship ($2,000). He is the current SPAN president. He had two internships, with Uptown Greenville (Spring 2017), and with Kimley-Horn & Associates in Charlotte (Summer 2017). His interests are transportation and mobility planning and sustainable design.
Kellen P. Long, a Senior student, received three award and scholarships this year, which include 2017 AICP Outstanding Student Award, 2017 S. M. Hankins Scholarship ($600), and 2017 John C. Ralph Scholarship ($300). She did three internships with Elizabeth City (Summer 2017), Southern Shores (Summer 2017), and Albemarle Regional Health Services as the Active Living Intervention Lead for Region 9 (Fall 2017). She has served as the SPAN Secretary.
Damiere Powell, graduated in Spring 2017 currently in the Master of Urban Design program at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, nominated for the 2017 NC-APA Outstanding Student Award. This award recognizes exceptional academic studies and initiative in planning. He was one of the 2016 SECU Public Service Fellow -Greene County Economic Development Commission.
