Research

Areas of Interest: urban and regional economic development, transportation, inter-local collaboration and planning, the auto industry, and foreign direct investment.

Dr. Jacobs’ research has focused upon two areas: 1) comparative urban and regional development (ex., the contextual factors driving urban and economic growth outcomes in urban regions of the U.S. and Japan); and 2) the impact of the auto industry on regional, and national development (ex, plant closing and national economic decline in Western Europe and new factory construction and regional economic growth in the America South).
